The National Export Strategy (NES) is Curaçao's comprehensive 5-year plan strategically designed to diversify exports, drive economic development, and increase foreign exchange earnings. The strategy is focused on implementing e-government for businesses to facilitate exports and support Curaçao in becoming a more resilient and sustainable economy.
The NES envisions transforming the country's economy into one characterized by entrepreneurship, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, quality, and innovation. It targets local businesses and foreign investors, positioning Curaçao as a hub for successful business ventures.
The NES has identified seven (7) priority sectors with solid export potential to enhance national export performance:
- The Creative Industries
- (Transnational) Education
- Financial services
- The Blue Bioeconomy
- Information Technology
- Medical and Wellness Tourism
- Port and Maritime services
The NES also encompasses various trade support functions to significantly improve the business environment, including skills and entrepreneurship, trade and investment promotion, trade information, and trade facilitation. These strategies aim to revitalize Curaçao's business environment across all economic sectors by promoting entrepreneurship and innovation and making the country an appealing destination for business investment.
