NL Film launches recruitment for free screenwriting workshop for scriptwriting talent in Curaçao

Willemstad / Amsterdam, 30 july 2026 — NL Film, part of Banijay Benelux, is launching the Cine Curaçao screenwriting workshop this year: an intensive, free writers’ workshop for talented residents of Curaçao who want to become screenwriters for film and television. For this writers’ workshop, NL Film is working together with Fiction Valley. The workshop itself takes place from 19 to 29 November 2026 in Curaçao and comprises 52 course hours, delivered by experienced professionals from the Dutch and Caribbean film and TV industry.

Talent development and a cultural bridge

Cine Curaçao is an initiative of NL Film that brings together creators from the Netherlands and the Caribbean. As a creative hub, the initiative focuses on talent development and building a structural bridge between both regions, with the aim of telling local stories in an authentic way. The writers’ workshop is the first step in this.

Who it’s for

Participants do not need a diploma or background in film and television. Cine Curaçao looks for talent, curiosity and commitment. Candidates live in Curaçao, are between 18 and 50 years old, have the ambition to become a screenwriter for film or television, and have some writing experience, for example with stories, columns, scripts, journalism or spoken word.

Programme

In a small, selected group, participants learn the fundamentals of writing for film and television: the structure of a screenplay, character and plot development, writing a good scene, and how actors read them. All under the personal guidance of experienced professionals.

Registration and selection

Interested candidates can register from 7 August 2026 via cinecuracao.com. After the recruitment period closes, NL Film and Fiction Valley will make the selection; selected candidates will be informed from 21 October 2026.
